“King Of Wishful Thinking” by Go West

I heard this in Duane Reade last night at like one in the morning, and it just made me so happy I started singing along but then I got the stink eye from this lady who clearly didn’t wanna be stocking shelves then.

Wow, Bridget, you hit the nail on the head. There are certain songs that are just in my brain without me knowing, that I recall from a very fun and happy place in my child hood, and I forgot that this was one of them.

I loved this song before I was old enough to understand what it was about. It is not a happy song. I still love it, in a different way.

I had it on cassette single and the B-side was “Faithful”, which if you imagine as a prequel to “King of Wishful Thinking” makes a sad story indeed.
